Incomplete file copying

Hello all,

I have a problem with old system, its intel celron 1 GHz, with 256 MB of RAM, the problem is, i was trying to copy some file of size more than 600 MB from my 8 GB pen drive to PC, it was not happening, it was copying only 150 or 200 MB and then stoping that too when i am doing this on CLI in Linux, i have 2 OSes on it XP and one more is Linux-Mint with ext4, And in XP i can able to open "My computer" it just hangs when i insert pen drive,

Earlier when Linux OS was not their it used to work with XP fine,

Please give me some suggestions to solve my problem.

Thanks and regards

First: how much free space do you have on the hard drive?

Second: how large is you swap partition? Is it large enough to hold the files you want to copy?

I don't know that the swap partition is a factor. But, given the small amount of ram in the computer, swap may be needed when working with large files.
