I/O error with 4th gen iPod

I just bought an iPod, and I was following the steps listed in the FAQ here. I formatted it on a Windows machine, and plugged it into my PC, but it won't mount. It says "mount: /dev/sda: can't read superblock" and quits with an error. Any idea how to fix this?

EDIT: Here's what dmesg gives me.

Code:
usb 4-5: USB disconnect, address 8
usb 4-3: new high speed USB device using address 9
scsi4 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices

Hi.

Looks like it's the same as this:

A kernel recompile may be in order.

Thanks, I got it working with my Knoppix cd from what I read in the topic! I'll try recompiling my kernel tomorrow based on those instructions and see how it goes.
