hwclock

I've been getting time skews whenever I boot.

When I run hwclock I get this message"
Code:
hwclock: Cannot access the Hardware Clock via any known method.
hwclock: Use the --debug option to see the details of our search for an access method.
running the debug

Code:
hwclock from util-linux 2.20.1
hwclock: Open of /dev/rtc failed: No such file or directory
No usable clock interface found.
hwclock: Cannot access the Hardware Clock via any known method.
I don't have a /dev/rtc. is there some hidden flag in the kernel I need to enable?

Just out of curiosity what linux distribution/version are you running and is this a standard x86 compatible PC?

x86_64, and Gentoo

Problem solved btw. I didn't have the rtc box checked in the kernel config.
