Hp Wifi scanner

Hello everyone,

in the past i have installed ubuntu mate 18.04 to a friend of mine, it has an Hp Envy 7640 multifunction device.

Wifi printing works fine, wifi Scanning via simple scan too, after choosing the device in the preferences, but he asks me if it would be possible to SEND the scan from the device to simple scan.

Otherwise for example having a book to scan and being the scanner on the 2nd floor, it will be a pain (2 floors up and down for every page - i know there is and adf but it won't work for books  ). He told me with Win it was possible. I don't have a wifi scanner so i'm unable to reply him.

Thank you in advance.

You are already sending the scan to simple scan if simple scan works. Scanning a book requires physical effort because you can only scan one page at a time. How is this possible on windows but not Linux? That doesn't make sense.

He has told me that pushing a button on the scanner starts the scan and sends it to the windows program.

I see what you are saying: you want the button to work with simple scan. Now that's different. There must be some application that listens for the button push and triggers a scan. Not sure if Linux supports this on your scanner, perhaps Google "Hp Envy 7640 scan button Linux" or something like that.
