Hello.
I'm having huge problems with my Ultrium-2 tape drive at work. BIOS and Linux recognise the device normally and the info they gather is correct.
I am using tar/gtar to write and read files. I tried writing single file on tape, listing all files on tape, recovering files from tape and everything works normally.
However! Every time I try to backup a folder from my RAID it stops after a while. This always happens after a minute or 2. The tape writer simply stops (saying IDLE on display) and the console window stops for a while, then I get
Code:
tar: /dev/st0: Warning: Cannot close: Input/output error
Prepare volume #2 for `/dev/st0' and hit return:
and it's asking for volume 2. But the tape is definitelly not full and after inserting new tape I get "cannot open /dev/st0" error message. In /var/logs/messages I get following entry:
Code:
"kernel: st0: Block limits 1 - 16777215 bytes."
Anyone knows or suspects what could be the problem? Do I need to post any other error info maybe? I've tried different distributions already: Fedora 6, OpenSuse 10.2 and now I'm on CentOS 4.3
Thanx.
