I'm running redhat 7.3, with 2.4.18-19.7.x kernel.

When I first installed it, I was able to use the printer configuration tool in Gnome and got the printer to work.

I had re-install the whole system over the weekend, and now I can't get the printer to work. I tried using Cups and lpd both.

It's a usb printer...and it doesn't seem to show up in the hardware list. Device files are there, but it doesn't show up in the Hardware Browser.

Previously, Kudzo wasn't starting when in the boot-up, so I tured it off. This might explain why the autodetect doesn't work. But I still can't get the printer to work.

any ideas?

Are the usb and printer modules loading correctly?

As far as I can telll, yes.

There's a /dev/usb directory with lp0 through lp14, I think.

Does that mean the USB drivers are loading?

How can I tell if the print drivers are loading?
