How to save energy

Im running fedora 14 64 bit KDE on pavilion 6 insyde bios, similar problems in rhel 6

computer starts off at 100-110 F and rises. it doesn't lower unless it heats 200 F* and fan will then kicks in high. it idle around 150-160 F*, and all of this is to hot i'm pretty sure and fan wasn't on like this when I had windows

How do I know which graphics card is in use?

I would like to completely disable all the HD ATI cards for graphics and Audio (how)

should I install a intel graphics driver/ and do I need to uninstall mesa driver? system info says mesa is installed for display

ACPID on runlevels 2-5
cpuspeed on runlevel 1-5
tuned on run level 2-5

any tutorials or docs on
Tuned
acpid
cpuspeed

and any suggestions on a power-manger

so I got 2 hours & 40 minutes in init 1, I lose a percent a minute in init 5 (so 100 minutes of life) not running video or audio

hibernate doesn't work right it shutoff my computer
is power devil good (i'm running KDE)
how can I set my cpu to not pass 150 F*/ 65 C*?

change bios settings:

CPU ...throttling

Use on board graphics XOR graphics card

See http://beginlinux.com/desktop_traini...quency-control

Fan speed : do not play with it
