How to recover a flash mp3 player

Hi all,

I've managed to partially fry my flash mp3 player, reducing it from almost 1GB of memory to around 300MB, by various careless deletions and unpluggings.

I would like to try and recover the lost space, perhaps by reformatting - however I cannot find any information as to how to do this with an mp3 player specifically.

I would treat the device as a normal flash drive, however there is a /system folder on the device and I do not want to destroy functionality as well. There are other folders on the device; /movie /music /picture /record /voice

The model is a Cowon Iaudio U3, which is otherwise an excellent player.

Does anyone have any advice please?

Cheers,

Rockatansky

I suggest you find a windows machine and use it's own software to format it and upgrade it's firmware (if possible).
I don't have the same player but had a similar problem with an iriver.

Er, wow, thanks Vangelis. I had (obviously) never thought of that. It worked perfectly. In fact, I was completely oblivious to the fact that I had the software at all.

Food for thought.

Many thanks to you again.

Rockatansky.
