I guess it's the same way as in Debian:

Try:

mount /dev/sda1 dest

For that you will need scsi-emulation.

AFAIK, you also need an entry for /dev/sda1 in /etc/fstab if you want to use mount like that. Otherwise, you have to specify the filesystem type by using

# mount -t type /dev/sda1 /path/to/mountpoint

See mount's manpage for info about -t.
