how to know set top box resolution through linux command


Currently i am working on linux os to run picture files like .png and .jpg on LCD monitor through set top box.
is there any way to find h/w configuration and set h/w resolution to what i want.
Please send the response as quick as possible.

You can find what hardware you have with commands like lspci and lshw. You can set the resolution with xrandr or by editing your Xorg.conf.
