How to diagnose CPU?

hi all
DO any one have an idea of how to test the CPU in the system?
Does anybody knows a software tool that will do the job for us?

Thanks in advance

Er, I'm fairly sure that if the CPU isnt working you'd know about it very quickly and obviously. Plus, how do you intent to run software on a CPU you cant depend on??
