How do I use the Sixaxis in Linux?

I tried using this guide, but to no avail. I can't put it in operational mode.

http://ps3.jim.sh/sixaxis/usb/

By the way, assume I know nothing about linux (Which I don't, really).

Well the first question, obviously, would be are you running a kernel newer than 2.6.21 or have you patched an older kernel with the operational mode function?

PS3 SixAxis controller to work in Linux – in Bluetooth mode! In USB mode, the controller is a standard USB HID device, so it works fine as a basic controller in Linux already. But when Bluetooth is used, you get to make full use of the motion-sensing capabilities of the SixAxis. This opens up many possibilities for use with things other than games.

Mine works fine if I plug it in via USB. I don't have any bluetooth anyway.
