How do I make Mandrake reconise my on board NIC on my sony laptop
so yeah... I have mandrake, and i really know nothing about linux, im currently running a dual boot, but i have an on board nic becuase its a laptop, and i need to know how to make linux see it... any help would be great!
Well, first off, let's see what the nic is, and then if the kernel loaded a driver for it. To find out the first thing, as root from a Konsole or Xterm or whatever:
lspcidrake
And post that back here, or really... the line that says: Ethernet Controller
Okay, there's nothing loaded for it so far and lspcidrake's output fed into google brings up just this page... man Mandrake screwed the pooch switching that thing around.
We'll have to find out the ethernet chipset the hard way, what's the make and model of the laptop and possibly... a link to the model's webpage from the manufacturer site.
Bloody heck.
Sorry about the HUGE lag in reply, 1 day no inet access followed by a 3 day furious cramb session for a job interview.
