Does anyone know where to get debian drivers for Asus A7N8X-E? I'm having some difficulties with the motherboard not recognizing the HDD, and googling has not revealed much useful information. Has anyone encountered the same problem?

There is a previously installed XP on the computer, and the person who installed it says she had just the same problem - the 3.5" floppy she was given fixed the problem with XP but it's not much use for me. Apparently the problem is with the hardware then, I think... but then again, I am a newbie.

(BTW, who would actually use the newbie smiley? urgh. ;) )

I assume you're using a Serial ATA (SATA) disk on the integrated Silicon Image 3112a controller. Grab one of the Sarge (Debian Testing) installer betas and install using the 2.6 series kernel. Support for the sil3112a is included in all 2.6 series kernels.
