Help me

Hi
I was unable to install either RHEL3 or RHEL4 as it is not detecting all ranges of SATA hard disks on ASUS mother board model M2N-MX with nvidia. same SATA hard disks aree being identified on other MSI boards. My board is ASUS M2N-MX, using athlon 3800+ 2 GB with nvidia and gigabit lan.

But i succeeded in installing Fedora Core 4 by selecting nVidia drive during installation through add device.

please help me out. i need to install RHEL3 please...

Can the settings in the bios for the sata channel be set to pata mode or legacy IDE?

Sir,
ThanQ for answering my question. BIOS Settings are OK. Fedora Core4 is detecting by adding a device. Neither RHEL3 nor RHEL4 is detecting on my board (ASUS M2N-MX). Other boards (ASUS) are detecting the same SATA drive.

My Board Specifications are as follows :
Socket AM2
NV GeForce 6100+nForce 430
HT 2000
VGA Integrated
DDR2 800
PCI-E x16
HD Audio
GB Lan
SATA RAID
EZ Flash 2
CrashFree BIOS 2
Green ASUS (RoHS Complaint)

Than Q...

I would say the anaconda installer differs from the Fedora versus Rhel. Also RHEL3 would be considered like FC1 since it still uses 2.4kernel on install. And RHEL4 would be closer to Fedora3.

I am guessing the anaconda installer from Fedora to RHEL differs a bit and may not include more modules. Also RHEL3 is closer to Fedora 1 using 2.4 kernel and RHEL4 is closer to Fedora 3.

Now I would think RHEL4 supports sata but the installer lacks the modules to load it. Here is a post that mentions the bios change and another way I did an install a while back. I had to install to an IDE drive. Copy partitions to sata and install grub on the sata. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...75#post2077075
