HD to HD raw copy with dd?

Theoretically, couldn't you copy a HD (its partitions, data, everything) to another HD with dd? (and it would work?)

something like:

# dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdc (hdc == first HD on secondary IDE channel)

I tried it yesterday, but when I tried to boot from the disk, nothing happened. Maybe it was my old version of dd? (the version that comes with tomsrtbt?)

Thanks,

Brad

That should work fine.

Were you able to mount the partitions on the disk you copied to?
