I wanted to post that my Acer AL1916A 19" LCD monitor with VGA hookups works great with Ubuntu at the default resolution, but I can't find monitors on the Linux Questions hardware compatibility lists. Where do I put it?
KimVette is correct - the reason there is no monitor section in the HCL is because monitors simply render a video signal (similar to how speakers render an audio signal). In other words, just like the particular brand of your speakers is irrelevant, so is the brand of the monitor. What does matter is whether or not the video card (or sound card) is compatible with Linux.
As an aside, note that a given card's level of Linux compatibility depends on the manufacturer, rather than on Linux. If you have a piece of equipment that is not supported under Linux, please contact the manufacturer to let them know your views.
