this is very common when dealing with a slow server Slackware installer times out and carries on to the next package. what I would do is make a list of that and use slackpkg to reinstall them.

I wonder how many more may have to be reinstalled do to incorrect symbolic links happens once in a while for me.

I agree with reinstalling the faulty packages, but I wonder how critical they are in the system's performance or stability?

I mean most of the packages in that list are related to firefox or mozilla stuff... not system essentials

well from my experience with slackware some times you need to --reinstall things because theses packages are built off each other. And there is way to find out by reading the doinstall scripts but hey. slackpkg --reinstall a,ap,d, etc and take a nap why take a chance. oppen ssl
mm could cause some serious problems with stuff.

really why taking a chance... I think the best move would be to reinstall the packages but I installed lots of 3rd party packages and lots of packages built from sources from slackbuilds... will I screw up everything?

Also what would be the best way to reinstall?

I do not think it would hurt if you are going to use native slackware packages. You can always go back to your other programs and rebuild them. This time buld them as slackpkgs.

Thanks for replying! This is not exactly what I meant.

Lets say I installed slack with all packages. Then, in order to get my appz running (lets say XBMC) I had to install lots of packages from slackbuilds... Do I need to reinstall all the slackbuilds packages as well? I imagine it wont be too hard because I kept all the compiled packages as package_name_x86_64.tgz

Might be worthwhile to mention that both video and audio playback is perfect with the latest release of XBMC (dharma) so I believe other problems are driver related.
