Ok, here it goes. I posted a thread about a half a month ago in which I wanted to know which release or Distribution of Linux was best for my pc. I got an answer. According to my specs, my machine would run best with Debian Woody and a 2.2 or 2.2.25 kernel. I went to the Debian home page and downloaded the installation manual for "woody". The problem is this:
When I read the part about machines that can run with woody I saw the list I attach to this thread. The thing is (and excuse my hardware ignorance) I don't know which of them is my PC. All I know is that my pc has an Aopen Mboard ap5vm 1996, and says Standard Computer on the front. I know that from the list it can't be Hewlett Packard or Motorola or Mac or Sun. I'm puzzled about the other ones. Please advice if you can
not sure what the question is, exactly, but you seem to be asking which one is you.
without wanting to look up specs on you MB (which might or might not actually be yours, it appears), i'd assume you're x86. so many people are. --comes from intel 386, 486, etc... p4 is up to 686, but the idea is x86. sound right for what you have?
