Thumbs down gtkam for webcam can't work

anybody has problem running gtkam ?
I have an old webcam that uses stv680 module (usb) on my linux FC3,but I have problem getting it work on it.lsmod show that there is stv680 module loaded, but when I start this gtkam and click 'detect' button, I always get this error- camera cannot initialise..'.Even when I specify stv680, I get the same error msg.
The funny thing is : when I use gnomemeeting, this webcam can work & the video dev shown in preference is indeed stv680 (aiptek). Also when I usbview ,I can see this device show up.
I have tried tens of times on 'gtkam' but my w/cam just cant work. I dont know why ??
Cud anybody pls advise me.thks.

gtkam is the GUI frontend for gphoto2 (a digital camera software) not for webcams...

sane-frontends includes xcam which is a webcam front end, not much functionality other than capturing images...
