Gparted stuck at enlarging partition

Hi,

I wanted to enlarge my Linux partition since I did not use windows very often and wanted to use its HD space for Linux.

My plan was to shrink the D: partition of Windows, and assign this to my Linux parition. This went fine. But when enlarging and moving my / partition of Linux, it became stuck on 3,4 /8 GB. There is no graphical progress any more and this for 2 hours (it would only last for 8 minutes). I can move the mouse pointer so gparted is not crashed. I wanted to cancel it, but then I get a pop-up message stating that this may cause severe file system damage. Does this mean physical damage to my HD or only data loss? I can leave with the latter since my /home folder is on a separate HD. What options do I have to solve this? I don't think waiting any longer will solve it...

thanx

Data loss.

Im sure if you did it hundreds of times over and over, you would be able to prod gparted into leaving the drive with bad sectors or something.

So, If I'm cancel and re-install Linux, I will end up with a larger Linux-partition without any physical damage?

You were right,

I only lost data from my Linux root partition, so no big deal actually.
