Got new laptop, need install adivce.

Hi all, I am a complete Linux newbie although I have been interested in it for a few years now. I had mandrake 9.1 installed on my desktop machine and I was relatively pleased now I just purchased a HP ze4315 notebook and I want to dual boot win XP and mandrake 9.1

I am prety confident with my install skills so should I just back everything up and boot off the cd and see how my luck goes? I want all the hardware to work relatively well so that is my only real concern. I have onboard lan and a wireless linksys 802.11b card. I also have a buslink 40 GB external HDD that I would need to have working and a USB smart media card reader that I have never been able to get working on any linux distribution.

I just need some basic advice on how to get started and how to erase all the linux stuff and go back to only windows if I need to.

Thankx

you already did a install on a desktop. so you can do the basic stuff. go ahead with your laptop and see if everything works fine. mandrake is very kind on dual boots. it will do the hardwork for you on the bootloader. after install if any hardware is not recognised then you have to search for its drivers.

all the best

oh BTW if you want to remove linux just get into Windoz and format all the linux partitions, hmmmmm i dont understand why people want to remove linux and keep windows
