Gentoo booting issues after install

Hey guys,

I just installed Gentoo, and I am now on my 3rd attempt today. I have installed Gentoo before (and successfully), but now I can't seem to get my system to fully boot. See, it always seems to give me this error after booting up (from either GRUB or LILO, either gentoo-dev-sources 2.6.3 or gentoo-sources 2.4.22):

Code:
kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k nls_iso8859-1, errno = 2
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:03
I have no idea what that means (aside from the fact that it can't mount my root partition). Right there, my system halts and I can't do anything.

Any help to solve this problem is greatly appreciated. The faster the better because I need to start some schoolwork on this machine tomorrow. Again, thanks a bunch! I highly appreciate it!

You haven't compiled the right filesystem in to the kernel (maybe you compiled it as a module?). You must be sure that your kernel has support for the filesystem you are using. And not as a module, as it need to be able to read from the disc before it can load any modules.
