Find actual vendor from Manufacturer code

In dmidecode I get a Manufacturer code: 1315. Is there someplace to use this code to look up the actual manufacturer name? I'm wanting to buy more memory, but I'd prefer to go with the same manufacturer.

If the manufacturer included the name in the chip code, dmidecode will show it to you.

dmidecode --type memory

From the PCI ids:

http://pci-ids.ucw.cz/

Not sure if that works for RAM though. But decode-dimms has Manufacturer Data.

$ decode-dimms | grep -i manuf

Check the memory devices which dmidecode turns up, you'll get something like:
Code:
Memory Device
	Array Handle: 0x0035
	Error Information Handle: Not Provided
	Total Width: 64 bits
	Data Width: 64 bits
	Size: 2048 MB
	Form Factor: DIMM
	Set: None
	Locator: CPU0 DIMM4
	Bank Locator: Not Specified
	Type: DDR3
	Type Detail: Synchronous Unbuffered (Unregistered)
	Speed: 1333 MHz
	Manufacturer: JEDEC ID:01 98
	Serial Number: 727033E5
	Asset Tag: Not Specified
	Part Number: KP223C-ELD
	Rank: 2
You can then look the Part No up in Google:
Quote:
Google

kp223c-eld
kp223c-eld 2gb
kp223c-eld ram
memory kp223c-eld

The answer in my case is therefore: Manufacturer, Kingston

Hope that helps.

Yup! That did it. My goolge query returned Crucial Ballistix for the part number. I couldn't find more memory at the local computer store from the same vendor, so I go the same type and speed from EVGA (Manufacturer: 0821) and doing the same search on google for part 08G-D3-1600-MR did return EVGA. That'll work, though I thought there was some on-line database somewhere by manufacturer code.
