Fedora core 6 unable to mount media from SATA DVD

Hello,
Ahh, I'm really tired of trying to fix this problem.
I need to install fedora core 6 on a Dual-core P, the hard disk is SATA, with windows, and the DVD drive is SATA.
So i got the DVD ISO image, i tried it on an old computer and it's working fine. but on this computer, the linux is booting, but then i get stuck with the problem of (unable to find a compatible device) when choosing to install from the local dvd, or from hard disk. I tried to get an IDE -> SATA converter, and used an old IDE DVD drive, but didn't work either.
Please how can i install this version using this hardware.

I would really appreciate any help.

Fedora Core 6 is old and no longer support. When it was new SATA drives were barely support if at all. One can try installing by adding the option; all-generic-ide

See: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...instal-540255/

Or a better idea would be to use a modern supported version of Linux like fedora 7/8 or centOS 5.1 if staying with the Red Hat family.

thanks dude,

that worked fine, but now i finished installing, and the linux is trying to boot up, but im getting a problem in reading the physical volumes.
Actually i followed the default installation, so linux formatted the hdd to the default one and installation was successful.
so while : Reading all physical volumes : No volume groups found.
Volume group "VolGroup00" not found.
seems there is still a problem mounting from the hard disk.

any idea?

Use the same all-generic-ide option on the kernel line in the /boot/grub/grug.conf file.

Boot the system using the installation media into rescue mode, answer a few questions and use chroot as directed on screen to edit the file.

As soon as possible bring the system current using yum. It is still a real good idea to run a more modern version of Linux as I suggested.
