Fedora 14, ATI's proprietary driver, and multiple monitors - a nightmarish hell

I'm running Fedora 14 (2.6.25.11-83.fc14.x86_64) and I'm trying to run ATI's proprietary driver 10.12, from the repositories. It installs and runs quite well - the default MESA driver leaves something to be desired in the way of performance.

But, as it's probably obvious by now, I can't get dual-head running properly (that's being kind, too). My monitors aren't identical and I'm not sure if that's contributing to my issues (one's an AOC, 1280x1024, the other's an LG, 1600x900), and with aticonfig --intial=dual-head, CCC detects both monitors properly and promises upon restart that my monitors will be as I've asked them to.

My restart yielded a completely inverted and flipped display on the 1280 monitor, stretching windows into where the 1600 monitor is, which is blackened and displaying nothing.

The question is, is Fedora 14 and these drivers not fully compatible? Or am I missing something in the way of configuration?

I've used F14 and the catalyst drivers on multiple monitors any number of times. Create a brand new xorg.conf file by removing your current one and running 'aticonfig --initil' and then, when you start X, try placing your monitors with the 'xrandr' command.

Aha! It's only a nightmare if you don't know what you're doing! Thanks for your input!
