fd0 doesn't exist

I'm using Mandrake 10, and there is no /dev/fd0. There is a fd, but it is a link to /proc/self/fd/

Is this normal for Mandrake? How do I access the floppy?

Thanks

no its not normall but check your dmesg output for a floppy drive

also see if mandrake moved it to /dev/floppy/0 etc.

No evidence of a floppy drive that I can find. Not only is there no fd0, there are none of the other fd devices that one would expect, such as /dev/fd0h1440. There are no fd devices at all.

dmesg has the following two lines:

ide-floppy driver 0.99.newide
inserting floppy driver for 2.6.3-7mdk

Any advice on getting the fd files from somewhere?

Thanks,

Jason
