This is the error I get after changing the "xorg.conf" file to accept the new NVidia dirvers... (i read the README, ran the installer, put the "#" 's where they need to go and changed the nv to nvidia)
(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to allocate config DMA context
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration
Fatal server error
No screens found
i have checked the postings on the site and have followed the instructions, i have gone to the nivida post with the patched drivers drivers, downloaded them and ran the installers, everything goes fine but i get this error when i try to start x. i got the official release from nvidia but that one would just lock my system and i would have to do a hard reset.
ps. it took me a long time to find that FC2 uses xorg.conf instead of XF86bla bla bla
i will be at this until i get the drivers working so please feel free to ask anything,
i have amsn running so feel free...

The 2.6.5 kernel Fedora supplies has an option switched on which breaks the nvidia drivers.
If you want to use the nVidia drivers, then you'll have to recompile your kernel with "Use 4kb for kernel stacks instead of 8kb" switched off. Either that, or you'll have to use the nv drivers.
Apparently nVidia is working on a new driver which works with the option on, so you might not have to wait that long for a new driver if you don't feel like compiling a new kernel.

well, then i guess this is something that i am just going to have to look into and fix over time as i am not sure on how to re-compile the kernel. i will do some more searching in the forums for information on how to do this. but if you know of the post which is helpfull , please post here.
Kernel compilation can be a bit of a hit and miss affair until you know what you're doing, but once you've done it once it can get a bit addictive A properly configured kernel is also faster (slightly) than one which was built to deal with loads of different hardware configurations.
If you've got the time and inclination, I would grab the latest kernel sources from www.kernel.org and have a go.
