Hi, I was handed down a computer from a friend, it had windows which was speedishly wiped during install of Debian (to which other linux distributions have been attempted for install) and when I try to boot to it after install, I have serious errors.
Mostly when trying to boot into installing Ubuntu aswell I cannot get as far as the install menu as I recieve ACPI probe errors etc.
I have tried multiple HHD's, RAM modules, different psu, sata cables, the lot. So I'm just thinking its the cpu / maybe it had cpu cooling/overheating error's? From what I remember ACPI is a power issue. I have a x64 cpu so I ruled out the CPU and OS version being a problem.
My question is, is it a bad ISO burn or distribution file I've gotten or is as I figure it to be.....cpu/mobo error?

You could try to boot with "acpi=off" as kernel parameter.
Did you verify the download by doing an md5 checksum? How are you installing? Did you burn the iso to a DVD by selecting an option to burn as an image in the burning software? If you are using a flash drive, what software did you use to put the iso on it. Some info on your hardware might help.

This worked and to the other person who replied, yes I did, and with ISO DVD burning software. It was just a hardware issue on my end, your input is appreciated and thanks a lot for the help
