I currently use this computer for development where two screens is quite helpful. Then I also power the TV in this room for entertainment (mostly for the kids). I currently have a 3 screen setup that works just fine with the xf86-video-ati driver, however there is noticeable glitches due to the shortfalls of the open source driver and I would like to switch over to the fglrx driver. Once going that route, I know I have to play by AMD's rules and hook up the TV off of the DisplayPort and not the HDMI, so I purchased an Accell B086B-003B, as it is listed as "recommended" by AMD (
http://support.amd.com/en-us/recomme...inity-adapters). However, whenever I try to enable the third monitor (my 1080p TV) in the Catalyst Control Center, it gives me an error:
The current settings cannot be applied. Possible issues may include:
- Display(s) cannot be enabled.
- Setting(s) cannot be applied due to insufficient video memory.
After searching around, I noticed others having this problem and fixing it with getting an active DisplayPort -> HDMI as opposed to passive, which I already have an active one and an AMD recommended one at that. Another was fixed when a person used a DisplayPort -> VGA, which I would prefer not as I am doing this to decrease video glitches and running 1920x1080 off of a VGA is far from glitch free. I'm in no hurry to get it working as the xf86-video-ati driver does work, but if anyone has dealt with the same issue and cares to join in on this thread, it's appreciated.
Hardware Specs:
AMD Raedon HD Series, 850MHz clock, 1GB video RAM.
Software Specs:
fglrx 14.10 for x86_64 architecture
also tried latest beta driver (14.20)
Thanks!
