Epson C86 and "escputil"

I trying to run the head cleaner command "escputil -c" on Mepis 6.0 and get this error: escputil -c
Escputil version 5.0.0-rc2, Copyright (C) 2000-2003 Robert Krawitz
Escputil comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY; for details type 'escputil -l'
This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it
under certain conditions; type 'escputil -l' for details.

Cleaning heads...
lpr: Error - no default destination available.

I downloaded the "escputil" utilities but this is what I get. Works perfect with Suse 9.3. Does anybody know how to resolve this?

Run "man escputil" -- it starts as follows
Quote:
escputil accepts the following options:

-P, --printer-name=printer
Specify the name of the printer to operate on. The default is
the default system printer.

-r, --raw-device=device
Specify the name of the device to write to directly rather than
going through a printer queue.
As you didn't specify either, escputil sent the appropriate job through lpr, hoping that this would go to the default printer. As the error message shows, you don't have a default printer (or "destination") set up.

For head cleaning, I'd recommend always giving an explicit -P or -r argument.

In general, designating a default printer is a good idea. Most printing tasks will go more smoothly because they won't require the "-P myprinter" option.

I don't get it. When I installed my printer on Suse something must've been done for me. I've went through the "man" pages and tried everything there but I still come up with the same problem. Where am I going wrong, the place where you have to name the printer? I have an Epson C86, /dev/lp0, parallel port, using foomatic + gutenprint-ijs.5.0. It will check the ink level, but it won't clean the head. I really don't understand what it wants. Thanks for your reply.

What command do you use for checking inklevel? (The one that works)
