Hi.
Have this old but still good scanner that I intend to use for making digital copy/backup of old family photo albums.
What I know for sure is that this scanner and Vuescan software seems to work very god on a Mint 20 desktop. However, on Fedora 35 not so much.
This is what I have done so far:
- Installed Vuescan version 9.7.82 from "software center"
- Installed iscan-gt-x750-bundle-2.30.4.x64.rpm (no apparent error messages as I could see)
- Open the Vuescan app - however it claims that the required plugin aren't installed (not true) )
- Tried "Simple document scanning tool" that is included when installing Fedora. This program work just fine, so the scanner obviously work just fine.
- In the past (like almost a year ago) - I used a desktop computer runing Linux Mint on this same scanner, Vuescan back then have no issues finding the scanner and use it with all features enabled.
The full error message at opening Vuescan:
Quote:
VueScan found Epson Perfection 4490, but no plugin for this scanner was found on your system.
Make sure you've downloaded the iscan scanner driver for this scanner from http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/search/01/search/.
Press 'Close' to start using VueScan.

Note: I've also sent question to the developer of Vuescan, but I assume that can take some time so if anyone happens to have some idea on what is wrong, I'd be very happy to know.
Else : I'd let you know if my response from Hamric (developer) are positive and is a thing to be nice to know if the same happens in the future.
If nothing works (i.e never get any reply on what to test) - I guess I just have to install a different distro that I know that Vuescan have being working on in the past (i.e Linux Mint 20).
Also : for the sake of the problem it isn't very relevant, but the scanner are placed on a remote location (pretty ural area) so if any response on this matter cames up late this easter, I'd have no means to test before several months probably.
