dvd-r and 'cant read superblock'

hello,

this may be a stupid question (and i think i already know the answer) but ive just bought a pack of dvd-r's and tried to write to them using the commandline tools mkisofs and cdrecord, and they burn ok, and even mount immediately after burning, but when i restart the system, and then try to mount the same disk again, i get this error

Code:
mount:/dev/hdc:cant read superblock
i burnt one of the remaining older dvd-r's i had been successfully using, and it mounts fine, so it must have something to do with the new dvd-r's

is there anything i can do? or should i just bin the new disks and buy some more? ive been using the 16 speed version of these disks and they worked well (the new disks i just bought are x8 speed) , so i thought these would just work too.

You can try to upgrade your burner's firmware to see if it works. Unfortunately this must be done under windows, since most manufactures provide firmware in .exe format.
