hi guys...

the other day, i updated my video card because some games doesn't work on it... so when i installed the driver (nvidia geforce fx 5200), then restarted the computer, the color quality is only at 4 bit and some functions (like 3d accelerator) are unavailable... after some time clicking and doing things, i miracously solved the problem... however, when i again opened the computer, the same problem occured and i don't what i did that solved it.

does anyone knows how to solve this problem? maybe there are other procedures that are needed after installing the drivers to fully install it..

your xorg.conf file mostlikely is configured to use nv instead of nvidia, OR misconfigured in some other way. Try running the X setup tool (you don't mentione what distro so it's hardish to guess what it might be ... redhat uses system-config-display (rhel4) or redhat-config-display (rhel3).

If that isn't it, could be your module (driver) is not installed quite right ... read the supplied README from nvidia.
