Both of you should head over to Linuxprinting.org

Use the Printer database to look up the driver for your printer..
http://www.openprinting.org/printer_list.cgi

In the case of the HP the driver is probably hplip

Adding Your First Printer from the Web

The CUPS web server provides a user-friendly "wizard" interface for adding your printers. Rather than figuring out which device URI and PPD file to use, you can instead click on the appropriate listings and fill in some simple information. Enter the following URL in your web browser to begin:

http://localhost:631/admin

Click on the Add Printer button to add a printer.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your Lexmark 7300 is listed as a paperweight in Linux... Never a good sign..

Means it will print about as well as a Brick..

in other words it does NOT work at all in Linux according to user submitted reports.
