Driver for ATI Mobility Radeon 9200

I have a HP NX700, with a ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 graphicscard.
I'm currently using the default driver found by my Ubuntu 7.10 installation. I think it's a Vesa driver.

I'm using an external LCD of 22 inches. It looks ok apart that you can actually see the screen update it self, darker lines moving from the top to bottom of the screen. The real problem is that after a while of usage, the images freezes, no mouse or keyboard response. So I have to kill the computer, and restart it. I don't have this problem running under Windows.

I think that the problem is the driver for my graphicscard.

Please help.
