Unhappy Does clock_gettime function work at any hardware ?

I'm planning to get a new mini PC which has Atom D2500 with D2500cc main board to make and operate a program that control servos. I really need a time check function like clock_gettime to send a command to servos every 5~10 ms.

However, I don't know whether the availability of the function is affected by hardware specification or not.

Does the availability and reliability of clock_gettime function depend on only kernel version ? or also on the specification of hardware like CPUs or Motherboards ?

Please help !!!

Welcome to LinuxQuestions.

In a nutshell not that I am aware of however I would think you would need a real time kernel to provide precise timing.
