Question Do I need to disable hyper-threading in Debian 9?

Hi.

Do I need to disable hyperthreading in Debian 9? Is there a command that confirms if I need to disable it?

Is this hyperthreading not an issue on Debian 8?

Thanks.

Once you know your processor model name, you can check the two lists below:
* List of Intel processors code-named "Skylake": http://ark.intel.com/products/codename/37572/Skylake
* List of Intel processors code-named "Kaby Lake": http://ark.intel.com/products/codename/82879/Kaby-Lake
...

My CPU is not there. :-)

It does not matter which operating system you run, it only matters which processors you use. It is well explained here:

https://lists.debian.org/debian-user.../msg01010.html.

I think I read some issue with some new intel processors last week but a bug patch is in if you want to update affected cpus. ??? I think that is right.

Most programs now are smp aware. A few of the very old programs might exist. It is the admins job to make tests to decide if they want to use HT. Generally I think it is a good thing since most of the bugs are out of it. Only testing on your work will provide an answer.

You usually disable HT in bios.

Then you don't need to do anything, your cpu isn't affected.
