Do I have 2x256MB or 1x512MB RAM?


Hello!

I would like to know whether my laptop has 2x256MB or 1x512MB RAM.
How can I do this without actually opening the notebook?

sudo dmidecode | less and scroll down to find the information you need.

lshw is another useful tool to find memory and indeed more hardware infomration (on debian and children atleast).

Usage:

>sudo lshw
