devfs and devfsd don't create /dev/dsp or /dev/sound/dsp ?

Hi,

Devfs and devfsd don't create /dev/dsp or /dev/sound/dsp and when nas tries to access /dev/dsp itcan't. What can i do to get them created in /dev tree. It is frustrating because i open a mpeg in mplayer it hangs for a minute, then starts playing with sound, but gives me an error that /dev/dsp doesn't exist. I am using alsa as a modules, and my sound card has an envy24 chip.

thanx, joe
