Dell PowerEdge SC440 Compatibility with Ubuntu Server Edition


I'm trying to find out if any one is using this configuration with Ubuntu Server Edition:


Dell PowerEdge SC440

Dual Core 3060 Processor, 4MB Cache, 2.4GHz,
Xeon, 1066MHz Front Side

4GB DDR2, 667MHz, 4X1GB Dual
Ranked DIMMs

On board Network Adapter

500GB 7.2K RPM Serial ATA 3Gbps
3.5-in Cabled Hard DrivePrimary

500GB 7.2K RPM Serial ATA 3Gbps 3.5-
in Cabled Hard DrivePrimary

SAS 5IR SAS, PCI-Express Internal
RAID Adapter

did you search google for the server model and ubuntu ?

Yes I did, and there is some info on the base system, and some notes of NIC Driver problems with some versions of Linux.

no problems whatsoever with sc440

Hello, I'm running an SC440 with the same configuration but smaller disks, it's running ubuntu server 7.10 amd64 with no problems. I've also read about NIC problems with older Ubuntus but right now it's working well.

Thanks, I'll post here if/when I have a chance to test an install on one I'm holding on to for someone else.

It has a Xeon Processor.
