Ok! So i'm pretty new at this linux stuff and have certainly jumped in head first. I'm trying to set up an ftp server with raid using ubuntu gutsy. So far I (using
this guide):
installed gutsy on an unraided drive
installed dmraid, partitioned and formatted the two arrays (4 drives)
debootstrap installed to the new primary
and now, trying to install the kernel, etc. it's not working. I think it's because it can't access the cd, but i'm pretty naive in the ways of the penguin.
apt-cdrom add doesn't work.
/etc/fstab says unconfigured fstab for base system. which looks like a problem.
Now, helping me fix the cd drive would be ok, but i'm also 1000% willing to listen to anyone telling me that i'm doing this the hard way and what i really need to do is get a hardware raid controller that is so very linux compatible. Actually, is that even possible?
