CUPS problem

HI,

I recently updated to Debian/Etch/testing and can't reinstall
my SAMSUNG 4500 printer. When I use the KDE print manager in
Administrator mode it correctly lists the model number and
driver but says it was unable to install it because it either
doesn't exist or I don't have the right permissions. When I
tried to configure it with CUPS through localhost:631 it
doesn't list any SAMSUNG drivers at all.

How can I get this to work?

no I didn't but...

I've successfully configured this printer with several
different versions of Linux before without having to
manually download the ppd, etc. as indicated in the
link you sent. Usually everything is handled by foomatic
or whatever but not this time.
