Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Copying mp3s to PDA SD Card

Hi,

Does anybody know if it possible to transfer mp3s to a PDA SD card using Linux. I used to do this before via RealOne Player in Windows quite easily.

I can currently synchronise my PDA using KPilot, but don't know how to write anything to the SD card direct.

I have a Palm Tungsten E and the PDA only has approx 32Mb built in memory - you need an SD card to listen to mp3s. I dont really fancy keeping Windows installed just so I can copy mp3s to my PDA - it would be nice to be able to do it via Linux....

Anyone managed to do this themselves or have any advice?

Thanks

As the previous post suggests an SD reader to plug into the USB socket is a useful gadget.

I'm not familiar with current Palm hardware or kpilot. I guess you have already searched for ways to access the card via the Palm.

Most digital cameras put a FAT or VFAT filesystem on the memory card. Linux can easily read/write to this if you have a card reader. It would be surprising if Palm were using anything different

I think the palm dont allow to r/w directly from SD card. Under windows we also need to use a palm sorftare to put files on SD.
