Clustering, very simple answers please, lol.

I have been looking at setting up a cluster (related to another post about using 1 PSU to multiple boards) but have a rather simple(istic) question that I cant find an answer to.

Will a standard program that can currently use multiple cores of a single processor spread over a cluster to use multiple nodes or does the software specifically have to be re-written to work on a cluster?

The software needs to be specifically written to take advantage of a multi-node cluster. Standard software will just run on the single machine.

There were projects to make all software cluster-aware, like OpenMOSIX but for whatever reason the OpenMOSIX project is dead now. Not sure what the limitations are on the original MOSIX project: http://www.mosix.org/index.html
