cisco air-cb21ag-a-k9 on slackware 10 with madwifi is naughty

Any wireless gurus out there? I'm running slackware 10.0 on a Compaq r3306 laptop. It has a built in Broadcom wireless card which is working with ndiswrapper, but it's kindof limited in it's capabilities.

I'm trying to get a cisco air-cb21ag-a-k9 working but it's been a no-go so far.

Here's what I've done:

download latest madwifi drivers
compiled fine with no errors

depmod -a => no problem

modprobe ath_pci => gives me the garbage below

Warning: loading /lib/modules/2.4.26/net/ath_hal.o will taint the kernel: non-GPL license - Proprietary
See [Took this out so I could post] for information about tainted modules
Module ath_hal loaded, with warnings
Module wlan loaded, with warnings
Module ath_rate_onoe loaded, with warnings
Module ath_pci loaded, with warnings

Now I should be able to:
ifconfig ath0 up

But it fires back that the device isn't found

Here's my lsmod, the atheros modules are right on top

I'm guessing that my problem has something to do with those last few lines there involving the cardbus bridge. I'm still about half newb on this stuff, so any help is much appreciated. Thanks ahead of time
