Changing sample rate for OSS?

Ok here's my problem. Some of my avi files in mplayer plays too fast, fixed it with using 'esd -r 48000' since it's set at 41000 as default. Also my flash player does not have any sound.

So I thought to use OSS and make it have 48000Hz and see if that'll fix the sound issue, if it did with esd ... maybe ...

what's the command or app that changes this? I've looked everywhere.

i have the same problem. any luck? also esd is esound, which is yet another driver/service for output, just like alsa or oss.
esd -r nnnnn indeed changes the sampling rate for esound. xmms can use esound output but other apps i use need either alsa or oss.
googling around turns up irrelevant questions about sample/sampling rate of mp3s...
this was so, so, simple to change on windows...
