Talking Centrino Wireless on Fedora Core 4 !!!HELP!!!!

Hi,

I am new to Linux and have been searching around the net for a few days now tring to find how to get my Wireless working. It seems like the drivers are installed with Fedora Core 4 however I need some help getting is setup.

I am still finding my feet with Linux so step by step would be good

Under Desktop->System Settings->Network the wireless is listed under the hardware tab a Intel Corp PRO / Wireless Lan 2100 3B Mini PCI adapter.

So it seems like the driver is there, I reed somewhere that I need to copy the 2100 firmware to /lib/firmware (I have not done this yet)

Some help would be cool

I am trying to set this up on a Dell Latitude D400

-----------

Also I have another problem which I have not have any luck with where after closing the lid the laptop goes to sleep cool but it does not wake up by pressing a button, power button etc I have to press Ctrl+Alt+F1 followed by Ctrl+Alt+F7 I found someone else on the net that was having this same problem on a D400 but he was just advised to do this, no big deal just be nice to get it working

Thanks in advance
Phil

A bit more info when I do dmesg I get this about the wireless

ipw2100: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2100 Network Driver, 1.0.3
ipw2100: Copyright(c) 2003-2004 Intel Corporation
ipw2100: Detected Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 Network Connection
ipw2100: eth1: Firmware 'ipw2100-1.3.fw' not available or load failed.
ipw2100: eth1: ipw2100_get_firmware failed: -2
ipw2100: eth1: Failed to power on the adapter.
ipw2100: eth1: Failed to start the firmware.
ipw2100Error calling register_netdev.
ipw2100: probe of 0000:01:03.0 failed with error -5

And if I do iwconfig I get

lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

sit0 no wireless extensions.

I fixed it !!!!!!

All I had to do was copy the firmware into /lib/firmware and now when I do iwconfig it now sees my wireless

I got the firmware from here http://ipw2100.sourceforge.net/firmware.php

lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

eth1 IEEE 802.11b ESSID:"Eskimo" Nickname:"ipw2100"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.462 GHz Access Point: 00:30:BD:67:05:BE
Bit Rate=11 Mb/s Tx-Powerff
Retryn RTS thrff Fragment thrff
Encryption keyff
Power Managementff
Link Quality=99/100 Signal level=-37 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:39 Missed beacon:2

sit0 no wireless extensions.

and dmesg does not seem to give me any errors

So after that I went into Desktop->System Settings->Network and then under device I added a new connection with my network info and it works

Do anyone have any ideas about the standby problem?
