Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

cant get an ipod mini to mount

Im trying to use an ipod mini (1st gen I believe) to mount. I would like to be able to just mount and then copy from my ~/music into it. I keep error messages about wrong file type, so here goes:

ubuntu 9.04
fluxbox

gnome does auto detect it, but the results are inconsistent in gnome for me, and I cant put rockbox on it with out a mount point that works.

$ mount ipod

Hmmm... you are using the mount instruction incorrectly. You need:

$ sudo mount -t vfat /dev/sdd2 /media/ipod

but you may have it automounted already, look in /media and see if a usb device is present.
