Linuxprinting mentions some beta reverse engineered drivers... I suppose this could mean it is _possible_ to make this printers to work... but it doesn't meanit is considered "stable" or "reliable".

Is there any article about this issue (I tried Google but everything seems to be spinning around www.linuxprinting.org

well, maybe you wont be able to print a page... beta mean beta, don't expect too much from it
Why are you asking? If you have this printer you won't loose anythign trying. If you don't buying another model might be a better idea.

OK, it's not. period.

Mandriva detects it as 'Cannon LBP-800', but asks me to chose a driver. There is no driver for this POS.

It won't work. LBP-810 has both parallel & USB, while mine is parallel.
Do/did you have a similar problem?
